Seaweed Rosary

Karin Molde

Belly up, it is a silent question:

wonder, as you please, take a look.

Smell. The fish. Rot.

Palm up, it is a silent question:

give, as you please, take my hand.

Offer yours. Contemplate.

The white plastic glove,

washed ashore in winter's storm,

rests on a bed of seaweed,

palm open. Dulse is running

through its fingers like an iron rosary.
