Dr Marcas Mac Coinnigh is a lecturer in Irish and Celtic Studies at Queen’s University Belfast. He has held positions as Visiting Fellow at The Institute of Modern Language Research, University of London; Senior Fulbright Irish Language Scholar in the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies at the University of Notre Dame; IRCHSS Fellow in the Department of Modern Irish, University College Cork and Vera Furness Research Fellow at the University of Ulster.
His principal research interests lie in the fields of Irish Phraseology and Lexicography, Memory Studies and Folkloristics. He has published in numerous journals including Zeitschrift für celtische Philologie, Folklore, Proverbium: Yearbook of International Proverb Scholarship and International Journal of Lexicography.
