Larry Duffy grew up in Derry, and in his day job is an academic mainly working in the area of nineteenth-century French literature, on which he has published numerous articles and books. Having lived and worked in Ireland north and south, France, and Australia, he is now based in south-east England, where he eagerly awaits the impending crisis in the Humanities that will force him to abandon academia for either accountancy or literature.
