June is a retired Corporate Communications professional, now living in Donegal. While corporate writing and editing was a daily activity during her career, this is June’s first piece of creative writing. She lost her mum to Covid and dementia in February 2021 and struggled with how the pandemic impacted on bereavement. She found the process of expressing her grief in writing to be very cathartic and believes that the poem will resonate with many who have suffered loss during this time.
