Material Properties is Jacob Polley's fifth book of poems. His fourth, Jackself, won the 2016 T.S. Eliot Prize. His work is published by Picador, who also published his novel, Talk of the Town, in 2009. Jacob was born in Carlisle, Cumbria, and now lives on England's north-east coast. He is Professor of Creative Writing at Newcastle University.
