Gerry Crawford

I`m Gerry Crawford, a retired man born in 1952 in the townland of Aughnamoira, County Down. Carlngford Lough is a hinterland. After attending Abbey CBS in Newry I went into legal practice and have lived in Belfast for most of my life. Since retirement I`ve maintained my lifetime interests in music, walking and poetry. I joined classes for poetry, creative writing and memoir at the Crescent Arts Centre, where I have received excellent tutoring, particularly from Ruth Carr. The encouragement and assistance of my fellow poets is incalculable and greatly appreciated. My poetic influences range from Thomas Hardy to Patrick Cavanagh, Gerard Manley Hopkins to Mary Oliver, Lewis Carroll to Ted Hughes, not to mention

Christy Moore.
