Francis Hagan has published two novels, one with
Lagan Press here in the North, The Auditor, and one with
Liberties Press in Dublin, The Lighthouse Keeper. Both novels were critically well received. His
most recent novel, The Home Place, will be published this year by
L R Price Publications. Culture Northern Ireland writes of his work: “Hagan is
a wise and hugely talented writer who straddles genres and moods without ever
losing his balance. There is no one writing fiction in Northern Ireland today
quite like him.” He has written on Padraic Fiacc for HU and has
contributed an essay to Fiacc’s festschrift My Twentieth Century Life.
He has also published poetry in a range of magazines. Having taught Creative
Writing for ten years at BMC, Hagan now teaches English in Hazelwood Integrated
College, and has recently been the recipient of a Blackboard Teaching Award. For
ten years he has been the NASUWT representative in school. He is a BACP
accredited psychotherapist specialising in couple counselling and practices
with ACCORD in Belfast.
