Emmet Ryan was born in Dublin and raised in Cork. He is a graduate of University College Cork where he studied English and Psychology and completed a post-grad in teaching at London Metropolitan University. He has taught English language and literature in Seoul, London and Cork. He is a keen cyclist and he published his first book 'Tour de Ireland' in 2014. This is a non-fiction account of his bike ride around the island of Ireland. This prose piece is an extract from a novel he is currently writing. He writes part-time but loves the process and is keen to get his first novel published.
