Deirdre O'Mahony

Deirdre O’Mahony is a visual artist whose practice investigates the political ecology of rural places through public engagement, archival practices, exhibitions ,moving image installations and critical writing. Projects include “X-PO” (2007 - ) a former rural post-office revived as a social space, CERERE, (2018) a Horizon 2020 project for Teagasc Agricultural Research centreand A Space for Lismore, Lismore Castle Arts (2020). She is working on a new audio commission, POST_ for GUH/Galway 2020 and is in the guest programme of the 39th EVA International in Limerick (2020/21) curated by Merve Elveren.

She has been awarded numerous Arts Council bursaries, awards and international awards including the 2018 Irish American Cultural Institute Ernie O’Malley Award and a Pollock-Krasner International Fellowship.
