Barry Johnston was born in County Monaghan and He is employed as a Community Worker in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He has recorded and published two music CDs, and he is currently working on a collection of short stories. His works focuses on the idea of place in 'Ireland,' detailing settings such as the conflict in Northern Ireland and life in rural Ireland. He has an M.A. in Ethics, Culture and Global Change from National University of Ireland-Galway. Barry has been active in helping the Rossport community to resist the Corrib Gas Project in Co. Mayo, Ireland, and he volunteers works with ex-political prisoners in Northern Ireland as part of cross-community projects.
